VeriSign SSL Web Server Certificate

The Security of Your Site Is the Backbone of Trust for E-Business. Gaining the trust of online customers is vital for the success of e-commerce. Based on recent online business statistics, some companies have earned that trust by showing strong overall growth in e-commerce.

Verisign SSL Web Server CertificatesVeriSign offers a cost-effective, proven solution for securely doing business over the Web. This proven technology is in use now by top e-commerce sites, Fortune 500 companies, and hundreds of thousands of other leading Web sites. The VeriSign Secured™ Seal included with every Secure Site Service allows your company to display the number-one sign of trust on the Internet. This seal is recognized by 83 percent of U.S. online shoppers, according to a July 2004 study by TNS. More than four in five of these shoppers prefer the VeriSign Secured Seal, according to the study. Significantly, 93 percent of shoppers say it is important for sites to display a trust mark, and 64 percent of consumers who have terminated a transaction online would have gone through with it had a recognized trust mark been present. The VeriSign Secured Seal also allows your visitors to check your SSL Certificate’s information and status in real time—increasing customers’ trust in your e-business. VeriSign SSL Certificate solutions deliver:

  • Powerful SSL encryption for securing your customers’ sensitive information during online transactions.
  • Industry-leading business identity authentication - Safescrypt’s authentication procedures have withstood the most rigorous scrutiny from independent third-party auditors.
  • VeriSign Secured Seal, one of the most recognised trust marks on the Internet.

VeriSign provides 2 variants of SSL Server IDs. These variants differ on the basis of level of encryption provided (depends on browser version of site visitors).

Standard Secure Server IDs (included with VeriSign’s Secure Site and Secure Site Plus services) enable 128-bit or lower bit SSL sessions depending on the level supported by the browser. 40-bit SSL is strong enough for most Intranets and lower-volume Web sites, and 128-bit SSL encryption is the world’s most powerful encryption model commercially available. 128-bit SSL encryption has never been broken: according to RSA Labs, it would take a trillion years to crack using today’s technology.

Global Server IDs (included with VeriSign’s Global Site and Global Site Plus services) automatically ensure a minimum level of 128-bit SSL encryption when communicating with any kind of browser versions of Netscape Communicator and Internet Explorer. The encryption power of Global Server IDs make them ideal for sites that exchange sensitive, personal information, such as credit card numbers, with customers. VeriSign is one of the only providers authorized by the U.S. Department of Commerce to sell 128-bit SSL IDs, and may sell them only to specified categories of organizations, including online merchants, healthcare organizations, insurance companies, and banks and financial institutions.

The ultimate result of a VeriSign Server ID on your site: safe online transactions that protect customers and your business. Customers gain confidence that they are sending their personal information to a legitimate business and not an impostor. In turn, you know that your company is receiving accurate information that the customer cannot later refute.
